Pike Hunt
The 2023 Pike Hunt is on this year and is scheduled for Saturday, June 10, 2023. This annual event is a fundraiser for our Youth programs like Trout in the Classroom and the Youth Fly Fishing program, as well as our habitat restoration work. Join us for the 2023 Pike Hunt on June 9th & 10th. On Friday we will meet at the Garden Bar & Grill to tie flies at 5:00 PM. On Saturday we will hit the lake and chase pike. Saturday evening we will have a fish fry.
The Saturday Pike hunt is a long challenging day physically and there is a minimum skill level required to participate. We want everyone to have a positive safe experience (including instructors, boat captains, participants, and volunteers). For these reasons, we have set a minimum age guideline of 16 years with a parent or guardian. Participants should be familiar with fly fishing and casting a fly rod. This is not a beginner event.
Having a boat is not required, but if you have your own and want to bring it you can. Participants can fish in any body of water they choose. You are expected to follow all fishing regulations for the body of water you are fishing on. We will be having a fish fry after the event which will be a potluck. The time and location will be available after registration. For those who will go to the fish fry, we ask that you sign up to bring an item for the potluck. You should also plan on bringing your own chairs.
The cost of this year’s event is $50. You can either pay on the day of the event or send a check to Mark Bjornrud, 9815 Aspen Ave NW, Bemidji, MN 56601. Please register below to participate. Contact Kris Williams or other board members for more information. mntu642@gmail.com or 218.209.1595.
